A huge thank you to Halstead Community Shed for their incredible work on these new beautiful benches for The King’s Head, Pebmarsh.

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to HIMS Halstead for organising and transporting them. The time, effort, and generosity that has gone into this project hasn’t gone unnoticed, and we’re incredibly grateful.

These benches will be enjoyed by our customers, walkers, and visitors for many years to come, helping make our pub an even more welcoming place for everyone to relax and enjoy.

Projects like this are only possible thanks to people who care about their local community, and we feel very lucky to have that support.

Halstead Community Shed has proudly delivered a new noticeboard to the local crematorium. The noticeboard will provide a clear and accessible place to share important information, helping visitors stay informed and strengthening communication across the community.

Well done to our Shedders, Ken, Paul and Kevin, for all their hard work, help and support. A big thank you also goes to the crematorium team for the warm welcome - and the much-appreciated tea and biscuits!

Well done to our Shedders, Nigel and Rod, for their fantastic work creating the new Chappel and Wakes Colne Village Hall sign. Handmade from oak, this beautiful and durable sign will strengthen the hall's identity, improve its visibility and help create a welcoming focal point for the whole community.

Our Shedders have been busy again, helping our local school!

A big thank you to everyone who worked on the picnic bench for Holy Trinity School. This is the fourth project we have completed for the school. Previous projects include refurbishing their memorial garden and building a mud kitchen for the younger pupils.

A big thank you to our Shedders - Archie, Steve, Lee, Bruce and Malcolm - and all the other helping hands involved in creating a mud kitchen, shop counter, music wall, blackboard and wobbly mirror for Richard de Clare Community Academy.

We would also like to thank Harlow Timber Group for generously supplying the timber for the project and the Town Council for assisting with transport.

We want to express our gratitude to Essex County Council for their grant, which has enabled Halstead Community Shed to install air conditioning in both the Men’s Shed and training rooms. The air conditioning serves a dual purpose, providing cooling in the summer and acting as backup heating during the winter. This enhancement allows us to accommodate all 14 activities that take place at Halstead Community Shed. We are happy to share that the feedback we have received from participants has been overwhelmingly positive.

Halstead Community Shed were pleased to be able to deliver a Mud Kitchen to Holy Trinity School. Thanks to our shedders, Stuart, Ken, Archie and Muss for all their work.

This week, our Shedders have been helping Halstead Town Football Club by constructing new planters that include seating. They are painted in the club's colors of black and white, and once they are filled with plants, they will enhance the club's appearance. A big thank you to our Shedders: Lee, Ken, Archie, Stuart, Phil, Pete, and Kevin.

This week has been quite eventful at Gosfield Primary School, where they requested the Men’s Shed to construct a Music wall and a Shop counter, including items to sell. Our dedicated shedder, Rod, has been hard at work over the past few weeks crafting these items, which were painted by Archie and installed this week by Bruce, Peter, and Kevin.

Enjoy a friendly chat over a cup of tea or coffee and some refreshments while witnessing first hand the activities that take place in the Men’s Shed. This is also a great opportunity to learn about the community projects our shedders participate in and how our Men’s Shed might interest you.

You don’t need any special skills to join us. The main goal of the Shed is for men to support one another, helping to combat loneliness and isolation while encouraging men to enhance their mental and physical well-being.

The Halstead Community Shed and its Shedders were delighted to help Holy Trinity School with their latest project. Today, we delivered 6 additional mobile racks to Mrs. Jamieson and her team. We want to express our gratitude to all the Shedders for contributing their time and skills, to Harlow Timber Group and Bellway Home for providing the timber, and to Halstead Town Council and Tim for transporting the racks to Holy Trinity School.

Halstead Community Shed would like to say a big thank you to all those people who have supported us over the last year. This includes the seven thousand visits we have received to the various activities that take place at the Shed and to the groups and charities that work with us to support these activities. We’d also like to say a very special thank you to the following companies.

• Harlow Timber Eastern - who have very generously supplied our Men’s Shed with various timber products which were used in many of our the community projects, displayed on this site.

• Flightwise - for their donations which included the Oak used in the bench at St Peters School in memory of young Ender.

• Bellway Homes - for their donations of timber which have helped assist with various community projects.

Without the help and support of these three companies we would not have been be able to support the various local groups, charities, organisations and schools with our work. Our volunteers provide their time, expertise and dedication to all these projects freely and the Trust is operated solely by volunteers.

Following the success of the windmill model project for Bocking Windmill The Shedders were asked to repair their other displays. These have not only been repaired but our Shedders, Alan and Muss have automated the models. Now visitors to the mill put a token into the displays and watch as the models mimic the work of the mill.

Once again we have been working with our friends at Halstead in Bloom. We recently received Halstead In Blooms Cart from Bluebridge Industrial Estate. The Cart arrived in a very sorry condition before our shedders Archie and Ken got to work. Thank to their hard work and attention detail the cart has been returned to Bluebridge as good as new.

Our shedders have been working with Bocking Social Club refurbishing their benches. The benches have been striped, rebuilt and painted in there requested colours, which look fantastic. 13 Benches have been returned back to the charity and another ten to go

During the summer last year our Shedders Rod, Alan and Paul completed work on Bocking Windmill’s collection box model of the windmill. Our Shedders went one step further though and turned the collection box into a mini working windmill. When a visitor places a coin in the collection box the sails of the mill turn and make the noise of a working mill. However we could not resist adding the tune to Windy Miller for those of you who remember!

Our Shedders have been very active this week, lending a hand to Holy Trinity School. They reached out to us for assistance in constructing cloakroom trollies that can be utilised both inside the school and outside in the playground.

We are thrilled to fulfil this request and successfully delivered the first of seven trollies to the school this week. It is the first time many of our Shedders have been in front of the head teacher for the right reason!

The Shed Elves have been quite active over the past few weeks getting ready for Christmas. With Chief Elves Lee overseeing their efforts, they have been diligently crafting our renowned Christmas trees for the local community. Although production has paused for now, make sure to place your orders early for next year.

Next year, we will start taking orders for trees once more. They come in various sizes up to 5 feet, making them perfect for table or room decoration.

Halstead Community Shed is pleased to present St Peter’s School with a bench that will encircle an apple tree planted in memory of Ender Nihat. The bench was revealed to the parents and friends of Ender during a private ceremony.

We would like to express our gratitude to shedder’s Rod and Archie for their dedicated efforts in constructing the bench, and we extend a special thank you to Flightwise for their generous donation of the timber.

Halstead Community Shed has received a Highly Commended award at the Braintree Volunteer and Active Braintree awards. Well done to our Men’s Shed for their hard work and commitment.
